What is ETICS/EIFS?
ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite System) or EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System) is a type of exterior cladding system that provides both insulation and a decorative finish for buildings. It consists of a layer of insulation board that is mechanically fixed or bonded to the exterior surface of a building, followed by a reinforcing mesh, a basecoat, and a finish coat.
The insulation layer in ETICS/EIFS provides thermal insulation to the building, helping to reduce heat loss and improve energy efficiency. The reinforcing mesh and basecoat provide additional strength and stability to the system, while the finish coat provides a decorative and protective layer.
ETICS/EIFS is commonly used in both residential and commercial construction projects, particularly in areas with extreme weather conditions or where energy efficiency is a priority. It can be used on various types of building surfaces, including concrete, masonry, and timber.
One of the main advantages of ETICS/EIFS is that it can improve the overall energy efficiency of a building, helping to reduce heating and cooling costs. It also provides a seamless and continuous layer of insulation, reducing the risk of thermal bridging and improving the overall performance of the building envelope.
ETICS/EIFS is available in a wide range of finishes, including textured, smooth, and patterned designs, allowing for a customized look that can be tailored to the specific needs of the project.
