Redispersible latex powder is the main organic binder in the mortar of the external wall thermal insulation system, which ensures the strength and comprehensive performance of the later system, and makes the entire thermal insulation system blend together. It is also widely used in other building materials such as high-grade putty powder for exterior walls. Improving construction and improving flexibility are also crucial to the quality of putty powder. However, as the market becomes increasingly competitive, there are many mixed products of redispersible latex powder products, which have potential application risks for downstream mortar putty powder customers. According to our understanding of the products and experience analysis, the following methods can be used to initially distinguish the quality Good and bad, FYI:
1. Dissolution method
According to the ratio of latex powder: water = 1:4, dissolve the redispersible latex powder in water. After stirring well, let it stand for 10 minutes. If the bottom sediment is less, the quality of the preliminary analysis of the redispersible latex powder is better, and this method is relatively simple to operate.
2. Ash method
Take a certain amount of redispersible latex powder, weigh it, place it in a metal container, heat it up to about 800 degrees, after burning at 800 degrees, cool it to room temperature, and weigh it again. The more the weight is reduced, the better the quality; this method requires experimental instruments such as crucibles, which is suitable for laboratory operations.
3. Film forming method
According to the ratio of latex powder: water = 1:2, dissolve the redispersible latex powder in water. After stirring evenly, let it stand for 5 minutes, stir again, pour the solution on a piece of flat clean glass, and put the glass in a ventilated and shaded place. After the moisture has evaporated and dried, peel it off the glass. Observe the peeled polymer film, the higher the transparency, the better the quality. You can also cut the film into strips, soak it in water, and observe it after 1 day. The less dissolved in water, the better the quality; this method is also easier to operate.
