Tarihi
An fara haɓaka CMC ne a farkon shekarun 1900 ta wani ɗan ƙasar Jamus, Dr. Karl Schardinger. Ya gano cewa ta hanyar yin maganin cellulose tare da haɗin sodium hydroxide da monochloroacetic acid, zai iya ƙirƙirar sabon sinadari wanda ya fi narkewa a cikin ruwa fiye da cellulose. Wannan sabon fili mai suna carboxymethyl cellulose, ko CMC.
A cikin 1950s, an fara amfani da CMC azaman ƙari na abinci. An yi amfani da shi don kauri da daidaita miya, tufa, da sauran kayan abinci. Tun daga wannan lokacin, CMC ya zama sanannen kayan abinci na abinci saboda ikonsa na inganta rubutu, kwanciyar hankali, da rayuwar kayan abinci.
